Referral of alleged breach of the Electoral Act 1993
On 18 November 2011, the Electoral Commission referred the publication of an anonymous advertisement in a bus shelter in Onehunga, Auckland on 16 November 2011 to the Police.
It is the Electoral Commission’s view that the publication of the advertisement constitutes a breach of sections 204F of the Electoral Act 1993 because it is an election advertisement that does not contain a valid promoter statement.
As this matter is now with the Police, the Electoral Commission will not be commenting further.
