These areas share a community of interest with the Tamaki Makaurau electorate. The boundaries of the electorate should remain as close as possible to the existing Tainui electorate boundaries. Also objects to the name ‘Pare Hauraki – Pare Waikato’ for the proposed electorate. Suggested solution Use the natural boundaries of the Bombay Hills, Hunua Ranges and the Hingaia Peninsula to set the boundary of the Tamaki Makaurau electorate. The Pare Hauraki - Pare Waikato electorate should then be extended to include Tokoroa and Maniapoto, who share strong links with the electorate. Retain the name ‘Tainui’ for the electorate. |
